Police in Norman Wells say two people are receiving treatment after a “significant altercation” involving bear spray and a crossbow.
In a Tuesday news release, RCMP said one person was found stabbed at a home in the town, while officers determined another had been shot with a crossbow and bear-sprayed.
Police say 23-year-old Teagan Sutherland, who already had an active arrest warrant from an incident on September 11, was taken into custody in relation to the matter.
Sutherland faces charges related to breaking and entering, using a disguise with intent to commit an offence, uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and aggravated assault. Police said he is also accused of assault with a weapon, among other charges, related to the September 11 incident.
He is next due in court on September 25.
RCMP said the incidents remain under investigation.
“Norman Wells RCMP are aware that several people witnessed this event and are asking those witnesses to contact the Norman Wells detachment at 587-1111 or Crimestoppers,” police stated.
