Police in Yellowknife say a student is receiving help after uttering a threat with a knife at a city school on Tuesday.

In a news release, RCMP said officers were deployed and the school placed on lockdown at around 11:30am.

“The 13-year-old uttered a threat with a knife that was putting staff and students in danger,” police stated.

“Yellowknife RCMP seized the knife without incident and brought the youth to Stanton Territorial Hospital to receive proper care.”

RCMP said no students or staff were hurt.
