NorthWords has released the full program for its 20th writers’ festival.
This year’s northern literary festival is set to take place from May 29 to June 1 in Yellowknife and feature workshops, open mics and panel discussions.
“Our 20th anniversary is a time to reflect on where we’ve been and to celebrate the powerful voices shaping northern and national literary landscapes,” stated Robyn Scott, president of NorthWords NWT’s board.
“We’re especially proud of the diversity and depth of this year’s programming – there’s something for everyone.”
Highlights of this year’s program include BLUSH: an evening of erotica and sensual spoken word, a pancake and pajama party, and an author showcase and 20th-anniversary celebration.
Workshops and panels will cover topics including adapting creative writing into screenplays, Indigenous memoir, graphic novels, poetry and historical research.
Headlining the festival will be authors Esi Edugyan, Niigaan Sinclair and Richard Van Camp.
Also featured on the lineup are Jody Chan, EM Carroll, Lisa Bowes, Georg Erasmus, Allice Legat, Katłıà Lafferty, Crystal Gail Fraser, Marie Wilson, Stephen Kakfwi, Alison McCreesh, Carly Straker and Cassandra Blondin Burt
Events will take place at the Explorer Hotel, Yellowknife Books, Northern United Place and Yellowknife Public Library.
