Premiers from Canada’s western jurisdictions will hold a two-day meeting in Yellowknife to discuss the economy, emergencies and Arctic sovereignty.

Trade and tariffs, economic corridors, energy security and housing are among items on the agenda on May 21 and 22 according to a brief NWT government news release.

Premiers from the NWT, Nunavut, Yukon, Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan are expected to attend.

Every few years, the western premiers’ conference makes its way back to Yellowknife as part of a rotation involving the various provinces and territories who take part.

Yellowknife also hosted the western premiers in 2018 and 2011, while the real western premiers’ conference aficionados can pick up a 1998 Yellowknife conference pin on eBay for six bucks.
