RCMP in Fort McPherson say they have arrested and charged a 12-year-old boy after investigating a report of shots fired in the community.
In a Tuesday news release, police said they received a report early last Friday alleging the youth had fired a gun through the window of a residence and threatened to kill another youth.
Police said they located the suspect at another residence and recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the incident.
RCMP said no injuries were reported and the suspect – who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act – was arrested without incident.
Police said they charged the 12-year-old with:
- discharging a firearm with intent;
- unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- possession of a firearm while knowing its possession was unauthorized;
- possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
- unsafe storage of a firearm;
- uttering threats against a person;
- uttering threats against property, and
- mischief under $5,000.
