Shack burns near Pilots’ Monument on Thursday morning

A small shack near the Pilots’ Monument staircase burned early on Thursday morning and was quickly extinguished by Yellowknife firefighters.

Residents reported fire trucks in the Old Town area around 7:30am, and video footage by Adele Sheldon on Facebook showed the fire to be out shortly after 8am.

The cause of the fire is unknown. 

The City of Yellowknife has been approached for comment.
