The Transportation Safety Board of Canada says it is deploying a team of investigators following a fatal helicopter crash near Behchokǫ̀.

RCMP said on Monday an aircraft had crashed approximately 1.5 km from Highway 3 near the community.

Police said the pilot, who was the lone passenger in the helicopter, died from his injuries.

The Transportation Safety Board, or TSB, has said the helicopter was registered to Great Slave Helicopters.

In a Tuesday news release, the safety board said it plans to “gather information and assess the occurrence.”
