Fort Simpson’s mayor says a councillor will be temporarily suspended after investigations into ethics complaints filed earlier this year.
In December of 2024, assistant senior administrative officer Adrian Heron took issue with comments made by councillor Richenda Cli regarding his stint as acting SAO for the period of December 11, 2024 to January 27, 2025.
Two ethics complaints were filed against one or more of the village’s council, the details of which were not made public.
An ethics commissioner had been given 90 days to complete investigations.
Last week, Mayor Les Wright told Cabin Radio a decision had been reached during a July 7 special meeting. Cli will be barred from attending two council meetings as a resolution for the complaint, he said.
“That’s what the city, towns and bylaws act says we can do,” said Wright.
The mayor said minutes of the July 7 meeting will be made available online in the near future.
He did not specify a date, but said publication of such minutes “usually takes about two weeks.”
Cli did not respond to a request for comment.
