As the NWT government considers whether to put in a bid to host the Canada Winter Games in 2035, it is asking residents to share their thoughts.
The territorial government has opened an online survey for residents and organizations to provide feedback to help inform that decision.
The anonymous survey asks about levels of support for the NWT hosting the games alongside views on potential benefits, concerns and priorities.
Earlier this month, the NWT government released a feasibility study outlining what it would realistically take to host the 2035 games.
The report did not make a recommendation on whether the NWT should or should not host the games. Rather it outlined potential models for doing so and associated benefits, risks and challenges.
The survey closes on Thursday, June 25.
The NWT government said public input will help it understand how residents view the opportunity to host the Canada Games as well as what conditions would be important if it decides to move forward.
The territory is expected to make a decision on whether to put in a bid to host the 2035 games by the fall.
If it decides to do so, the NWT government said next steps would include determining the scale of the games, identifying investment levels and funding partnerships, and aligning planned games infrastructure with long-term community needs.
