RCMP say they are investigating after the victim of an alleged “serious assault” in Behchokọ̀ died in hospital.
In a Tuesday news release, police said they received a report on the evening of July 31 that a man had been assaulted at a residence in the community.
RCMP said officers found an unconscious man at the scene and provided first aid until paramedics arrived.
The man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said he later died in hospital.
RCMP said they are investigating the death in partnership with the NWT Coroner Service.

No charges have been laid at this time. Nobody involved was publicly identified by police.
