Police in the Northwest Territories say an Ontario 16-year-old reportedly seen in Tulita has been “located safely” following a public appeal for help.

The 16-year-old had been the subject of missing persons reports in Ontario in December last year.

Last week, Tulita residents speculated online that the teenager had been seen in the community and may be in jeopardy.

On Friday last week, NWT RCMP issued an appeal for the public’s assistance, expressing concern for the boy’s wellbeing.

In a brief update on Monday, police said he “has been located safely” and expressed thanks to people who had assisted.
