Diana Rockwell, a longtime Yellowknifer and classical soprano singer, returns to the city this week with a program focused on “the interplay of men and women within class systems.”

Rockwell will perform Kings, Queens & Pheasants with two young Winnipeg musicians at the Calvary Community Church from 7:30pm on Saturday, October 4. Admission is free.

In a press release, Rockwell said the program features “fun animal scenes and tableaus” alongside its focus on class.

“The program is intended to be a mix of the classical and the contemporary, and to include some selections that folks of all ages and backgrounds might find familiar,” she stated.

Rockwell is graduating from the University of Manitoba this year with a master’s degree in music and vocal performance.

Rockwell said this week’s events are funded by the NWT Arts Council, Music Teachers’ Association of the NWT and the MLAs Caitlin Cleveland, Caroline Wawzonek and Shauna Morgan.
