Police say a resident’s tip helped officers find a 16-year-old from British Columbia in Fort McPherson with drugs and a large sum of money.
The teenager cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice act.
In a Thursday news release, RCMP said he had been caught while “attempting to flee through a window” of a Fort McPherson home.
“A search warrant was obtained and executed on the residence. In total, police recovered approximately 20 grams of suspected crack cocaine and over $10,000 in cash,” RCMP stated.
The youth faces charges related to trafficking, possessing property obtained by crime and failing to comply with release order conditions. According to RCMP, he has been released again on condition that he return to BC.
“Fort McPherson RCMP extend their gratitude for the assistance of the public with this matter,” police stated, “and encourage anyone with information on drug activity in the community to contact the detachment at 867-952-1111 or Crime Stoppers.”
