Liz Wright re-elected as chief of Teetl’it Gwich’in Band Council

Elizabeth Wright has been re-elected as chief of Fort McPherson’s Teetl’it Gwich’in Band Council, eight votes ahead of her nearest challenger.

Wright, the incumbent, received 109 votes to Richard John Blake’s 101 according to unofficial results.

A third candidate, Wanda Pascal, received 64 votes.

Five councillors were elected: David Kay, Denise Robert, Delores Vittrekwa, Phillip Kay and Peter J Vittrekwa.

About 750 people live in Fort McPherson. Just over 270 ballots were cast in Monday’s election.
