YK 2025 Santa Claus parade to have winter wonderland theme

Snow may not yet be covering the ground in Yellowknife but the city is already preparing for its annual Santa Claus parade.

On Thursday, the city announced that this year’s parade will have a winter wonderland theme to to showcase “the creativity, energy and community pride of Yellowknife residents.”

“Yellowknife’s winters are a defining part of our city – beautiful, challenging and full of character,” Mayor Ben Hendriksen stated, adding the Santa Clause parade transform’s Yellowknife’s downtown into “a place of joy and connection”each winter.

“Even in the coldest months the imagination, energy and sense of togetherness of our residents make this city truly special and uniquely northern.”

Yellowknife’s 2025 Santa Claus parade is set to take place on Saturday, November 29 from 5-7pm.

Registration of floats is open until November 28.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three floats while the Roland Gosselin Ho Ho Ho Award will recognize a non-profit organization that best embodies the holiday spirit.

“Come celebrate the season and take part in a tradition that brings Yellowknife together,” the city said.
