Water supplier and freight firm Tundra Transfer will spend a month donating a portion of sales to the Foster Family Coalition and youth support charity Home Base Yellowknife.
The company says it will donate $1 to those groups from the sale of every 18.9-litre water bottle at its Yellowknife storefront between November 15 and December 15.
“As a small, local business, we know our impact will be modest, but we believe even small efforts can make a meaningful difference,” the company stated.
Arman Aslanyan, Tundra Transfer’s president, said the company had made water donations in the past or donated items to charity auctions, but this would be its first time donating proceeds directly from water sales.
“We wanted to do something positive this holiday season that would directly benefit the local children,” Aslanyan said.
“So I went and spoke with Home Base and the Foster Family Coalition, because I figured something for kids in need would be good to do. For every bottle we sell, $1 goes to them so they can make the kids’ Christmas better.
“It’s something that we thought could raise a little bit of awareness and inspire others to give back more to the community as well – hopefully kind-of like a chain.”
Aslanyan and co-owner Garrett Fyfe took over Tundra Transfer from former owners Annette and Dennis Althouse at the end of August.
Annette had formed the company with Peter Austin in 1996.
