Police in Fort Good Hope say a 23-year-old from British Columbia faces drug charges after somebody passed on a tip about a flight from Norman Wells.
In a Thursday news release, RCMP said a tip-off arrived on Wednesday morning “that a male suspect was travelling from Norman Wells to Fort Good Hope on a commercial aircraft.”
While the tip suggested the man had a handgun and crack cocaine, police said they actually found him with a knife, “a quantity of unlabelled pills, five cellphones, a small quantity of illicit cannabis and other paraphernalia.”
RCMP said they also found more than $8,000 in cash after arresting the man at Fort Good Hope’s airport. The pills have been sent for processing, police said.
Police identified the suspect as Adrien Capehart and said he is charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possessing property obtained by crime.
He was remanded into custody and is next due in court on Friday, police said.
