A new 50-unit housing block in downtown Yellowknife and the refitted Aspen Apartments are each looking for new names, the NWT government says.

Aspen Apartments was previously a federal building. It has now been repurposed as 36 territorially managed units of social housing.

The 50-plex on Yellowknife’s 50 Street will offer 25 barrier-free bachelor suites and 25 two-bedroom units when it opens next year.

You have until February 10 to submit your name suggestions online.

Housey McHouseface is unlikely to win.

“Consideration will be given to names that reflect the historical, cultural, and geographic significance of the Northwest Territories and to names that honour deceased persons who have made significant contributions to public life,” the GNWT stated.
