If you didn’t get enough human-ptarmigan interaction this winter, spend your Sunday tracking down a plush ptarmi and you could win a coveted Giant Ptarmi in return.

Yellowknife business Signed is running its fifth annual Great Ptarmi Hunt from 9am on Sunday, April 5.

To participate, head out along the Frame Lake Trail between the Legislative Assembly and aquatic centre and see if you can spot plush ptarmigan toys hidden along the way.

“The only rule? One ptarmi per household, so more people can take part in the fun,” organizers stated in a press release.

Each ptarmi has a numbered tag. When you find a ptarmi for your household, fill in the tag and bring it to Signed by 4pm on Tuesday, April 7 to be entered into a draw for the Giant Ptarmi.

“The Ptarmi Hunt started back in 2020 as a way to give families something safe and joyful to do during the pandemic,” Signed owner Janet Pacey was quoted as saying.

“It’s become such a fun way to kick off spring and get people outside together.”
