The NWT’s health authority announced a mock Code Silver this Wednesday at Stanton Territorial Hospital from 10:30-11am, simulating a lockdown event at the hospital to test staff preparedness.

A Code Silver is activated when there is an active assailant on the property, the health authority said in a Monday news release, describing the drill as an emergency preparedness measure.

The 30-minute exercise at the Yellowknife hospital is expected to take staff through a review of standard operating procedures. Certain units may be asked to close patient doors.

Urgent medical procedures will not be interrupted by the exercise and patient care will not be impacted, the health authority said.
