Most NWT parks open for the season on Friday morning

The vast majority of Northwest Territories parks and campgrounds are opening for the 2026 summer season on Friday.

All North Slave and South Slave campgrounds are opening, as are two of the three in the Dehcho, where the Blackstone Territorial Park opens two weeks later on May 29.

The Sahtu’s MacKinnon Territorial Park also opens on Friday.

In the Beaufort Delta, Jàk Territorial Park, Nataiinlaii Territorial Park and the Gwich’in Territorial Park campground open on May 21. Happy Valley Territorial Park opens on June 1.

Most campgrounds remain open until mid-September. The full list of dates is available on the NWT Parks website.
