The priest-in-charge of Fort Smith’s St John’s Anglican Church says events will take place across the coming weekend to mark 90 years since its doors first opened in 1936.
Father Aaron Solberg described the anniversary as a “major milestone.”
After joining Friday evening’s festivities at the Royal Canadian Legion to mark the Legion’s incorporation nationwide in 1926, the church will hold a ceremony from 2pm on Saturday, June 13 featuring feeding of the fire and an original hymn composed by Solberg.
An auction of local products will take place at 3:30pm on Saturday, followed by a ticketed dinner at the Salt River Conference Centre from 6pm.
On Sunday, Bishop Alexander Pryor will lead a closing service.
