The City of Yellowknife plans a test of Voyent Alert, its online and app-based emergency alerting system, at 11am on Friday, June 19.

Voyent Alert offers alerts either through an online sign-up system or a mobile app of the same name.

Exactly what the test will involve isn’t clear, but you should expect a notification at that time if you’ve signed up.

“Users do not need to be physically located in Yellowknife to receive alerts,” the city stated in a news release.

“The system allows individuals to set multiple location pins for addresses that matter to them, such as homes, schools, or workplaces, and will issue alerts if those locations are affected.”

This system is not the same as the broader NWT-wide alerting system maintained by the territorial government.
