Angry Inuk, a documentary tracing the battle between Inuit seal hunters and opposing activists, will receive its Canadian TV debut next month.
The feature will air on CBC at 7pm MT on Sunday, January 7 2018.
Angry Inuk stars filmmaker Alethea Arnaquq-Baril, lawyer Aaju Peter and a range of Inuit hunters, craftspeople and families who rely on the seal hunt for their survival and wellbeing.
The documentary highlights what its publicity material calls the “army of well-funded activists and well-meaning celebrities” who oppose seal hunting – and follows a group of Inuit students to Europe as they take their case to a European Union panel.
Awards
Angry Inuk has received various honours since its 2016 cinematic release, including the audience award at Hot Docs 2016, the Alanis Obomsawin Best Documentary award at imagineNATIVE 2016, a selection to TIFF’s Canadian Top Ten of 2016, and the People’s Choice award at Canada’s Top Ten Film.
The documentary will be available to watch online from Friday, January 5, at 3pm MT.
