Spring breakup means some NWT communities don't need a barricade to put distance between themselves and Covid-19. But summer ferries will have new restrictions.
The longer places like the Nahanni are shut down, the more tour operators and airlines worry it's not just this year's revenue on the line but next year's, too.
The Dene Nation declared the NWT's new liquor restrictions "a victory for all people." Now it plans to further lobby the GNWT and Ottawa for treatment programs.
Donations of computers have dried up, as have flights to ship them. Even if an NWT student gets one, there's no guarantee they can afford internet access.
"It's hard to hire summer students and then say, go home." With internship programs on hold, northern students hoping for GNWT posts face limited options.
