Architecture Sketching Workshop with Francis Ching

If you are interested in art, architecture or just enjoy sketching, this is an amazing opportunity to hear from and/or sketch with a world-renowned architectural illustrator and architect, Francis Ching. The presentation on July 16th is free and open to the public (seat included if you register for the workshop). Registration for the workshops – option of two locations – on July 17th is open to NWTAA members only until May 30th, after which any remaining seats will be available to the public to purchase. Workshop spots are very limited to keep group sizes small so register now! Workshop cost is $125 per ticket.

Email [email protected] to register for the workshop.

For the workshop, registrants must choose between two timeslots/locations, with only 15 seats available for each. The morning and afternoon sessions will consist of a series of drawing exercises, each varying in length and purpose. Each exercise will begin with a brief explanation and demo, followed by on-site drawing, one-on-one feedback, and a group critique at the end. The reason for multiple exercises as opposed to a single drawing session is to maximize iterative practice.

– Option A: 9:00am-12:00pm – Old Town (meet at Wildcat Cafe)

– Option B: 2:00pm-5:00pm – Prince of Wales Museum (meet inside in entry area)

What to bring with you/materials (for workshop):

  1. A fine-tipped, smoothly flowing pen (fountain, rollerball, felt-tip)
  2. If one strongly prefers drawing with a pencil, it should be 4B or softer
  3. 5×8 to 8×8 sketchbook or journal, suitable for both pen and pencil
