***The Cafe will be open for brunch hours from 10am and will take orders until 12:30, closing by 1:20. Come get a fantastic brunch / coffee at the Cafe (run by Sundog!), and enjoy it, and then wander the beautiful museum until the concert is ready!
About the artists:
One of Canada’s powerhouse violin+piano duos, Duo Concertante has been performing for almost 30 years, and are currently based in St. John’s Nfld. Through live performances and acclaimed recordings, violinist Nancy Dahn and pianist Timothy Steeves have built an international career in the Canadian chamber ensemble Duo Concertante.
In true Longshadow fashion, they will be performing works from composers and creators of today, alongside music from the history of their genre: classical chamber music. So you’ll hear music by Dvorak as well as Canadian-Mexican composer Luis Ramirez, a piece by Carmen Braden alongside Brahms, and also music by Amanda Maier – one of Sweden’s first prominent female violinist/composers from the 1870’s!
