Skills Canada NWT Territorial Competition

The 2026 Skills Canada NWT Territorial Competition will take place on Friday, April 17th, 2026, at the Summit Air Hangar in Yellowknife. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Summit Air for their generous support as our venue sponsor for the second consecutive year.

This competition provides students (Secondary / Post-secondary) and apprentices from across the NWT the unique opportunity to compete in 18 different skilled trades and technology categories, including: Automobile Technology; Baking; Cabinetmaking; Carpentry; Cooking; Electrical Installations; Fashion Technology; Hairstyling; Heavy Vehicle Technology; Mobile Robotics; Outdoor Power and Recreation Equipment; Photography; Plumbing; Public speaking; Traditional Sewing; Video Production; Welding; Workplace Safety.

The Territorial Competition serves as a platform for participants to test their skills, gain hands-on experience, and compete for the chance to advance to the Skills Canada National Competition. Registration for this event will open on February 6th, 2026.

For those unfamiliar, Skills Canada NWT is a non-profit organization dedicated to engaging youth in exploring skilled trades and technology careers. Our mission is to make these careers accessible, appealing, and achievable for all youth in the NWT. We believe every student should have the opportunity to explore, train, and succeed in these fields.
