Inuvik RCMP have confirmed the body of a dead man was found on a trail near Big Lake, just outside the community, on Saturday, November 3 at around 9pm.
RCMP have not identified the individual.
“The RCMP is aware that there is some speculation as to the identity of the person. However, as they have not been identified, there is no further information at this time,” police said in a statement on Monday.
The territory’s major crimes unit, a forensics team, and the coroner’s office are taking part in the ongoing investigation.

At the end of October, police had asked the public for assistance in locating Richard Binder Jr, a 35-year-old wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant.
There has been no update on Binder’s whereabouts since.
