RCMP say they have charged two men following an “armed and barricaded situation” at a downtown Yellowknife apartment building last week.

In a Tuesday news release, RCMP said the incident involved reports of a person armed with a knife threatening people at an apartment building on 48 Street.

RCMP said they responded with an emergency response team, crisis negotiators and police dogs.

Police said four people were taken into custody, including two men said to be wanted in connection to a previous incident.

RCMP stated Donovan McNeely, 25, is charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats, possession of property obtained by crime, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to remain at the scene of a collision and flight from a police officer.
