The Yellowknife Book Cellar will open new doors on Monday across the street from its former location after a frantic move involving thousands of books.
The city’s lone bookstore now occupies the former Miniso location next to the Black Knight Pub, on the other side of 49 Street from its previous location next to TD Bank.
“We are still operating with some bumps in the road,” the store said on Facebook on Sunday afternoon as it announced its reopening.
“While your orders are important, we have a lot to still do. We haven’t had technology set up for over a week and still have a tremendous amount to catch up on.”
Over the past two weeks, the store’s staff have described hiccups involving a removals firm, technological gremlins and even the “horrible” old carpet as the move evolved.
The new store opens its doors at 11am on Monday.
The Book Cellar first opened in 1979, meaning it is now in its 45th year.
Current owner Jennifer Baerg Steyn took over the store in early 2022.
