New Hay River apartments to open July 1, accepting applications

A new apartment building in Hay River is accepting applications and will open on July 1.

The town has been urgently seeking new housing developments in recent years. Riverside Suites will host 44 rental units at 66 Capital Drive, beside the Hay River.

A one-bedroom, one-bath 800 sq ft unit will cost $2,100 to rent while a two-bedroom, two-bath 1,075 sq ft unit will cost $2,600.

There are six different floor plans in the building.

Developer Rowes said it hoped the apartments will “assist with keeping young professionals home, aid employers in recruiting doctors, teachers and other skilled trades, and help seniors transition to a more accessible lifestyle.”

The apartment complex was originally scheduled to open in the fall of 2022. Floods, fires and other events significantly delayed the opening.
