Yellowknife’s music festival has a new boss. Teresa Horosko is taking over from Carly McFadden as Folk on the Rocks executive director.

Horosko, formerly Folk’s operations manager and volunteer manager, took over earlier this week. The festival made the switch public on Friday.

McFadden, who had been the executive director since 2016, remains Folk’s artistic director.

“I am thrilled to pass on the torch to someone so dedicated to this festival and its surrounding community,” McFadden said by email.

“Teresa has gone above and beyond since starting with us as the volunteer manager in 2019. She is creative, compassionate and an incredible leader. I know she will take this organization to a new exciting level.”

In a press release, Horosko was quoted as saying: “In my time working in large-scale community events, I have never seen a festival with such dedicated and passionate community support. It is a privilege to be a part of the team that puts on this amazing festival.”

This summer’s Folk on the Rocks, to be headlined by Bedouin Soundclash, runs from July 19-21.
