WestJet and Yukon airline Air North have announced an agreement they say will “make air travel more seemless and affordable for northern Canadians.”

The airlines said earlier this week the new interline agreement means people can now book a single ticket with a connected itinerary between some Yukon and NWT communities and more than 100 destinations across WestJet’s global network, with a single check-in point.

“This interline agreement will redefine air travel to the Yukon and the Northwest Territories from WestJet’s expansive network, igniting important new tourism and business travel opportunities,” Jared Mikoch-Gerke, WestJet director, alliances and airport affairs, said in a statement. “It will also unlock more seamless access for education, medical and cargo services to reach remote communities.”

Air North currently serves Inuvik and Yellowknife in the NWT.
