The 30th edition of Yellowknife’s Snowkings’ Winter Festival will take place from March 1-28, 2025, organizers announced on Wednesday.

The annual festival takes place on the frozen ice of Great Slave Lake’s Yellowknife Bay and features an array of events centred on the Snowcastle, an architectural wonder constructed of ice and snow.

The festival, which has long used Roman numerals to indicate which edition is being held, used its Wednesday news release to revel in the fact that this means Snowking XXX is upon us.

Promising a “hardcore snow pour,” organizers nonetheless insisted the XXX edition will still involve “fun for all ages.”

Offering a hint at 2025’s architectural approach, the Snowking was quoted as saying: “This year you can expect a return to more traditional castle snowtifs and a look back on all the cool things we’ve created in 30 years.”
