Home decor store to open in Yellowknife this November

Renovations are under way as a new home decor store prepares to open in uptown Yellowknife.

Rime or Reason Home Decor & Gifts, launched by Corothers Home Hardware, will be located next to the Home Hardware store on Old Airport Road, where a kitchen and appliance showroom formerly operated.

“The vision is to create a space where people can discover unique, timeless and collective decor pieces that make their homes feel beautiful but also deeply personal,” said Trish Raworth, owner of T.R Digital Marketing, which has partnered with the company on the venture.

“We want it to be more than just a store. We aim to make it a place where people can feel inspired and connected, a destination where the community can come together and explore their ideas for design that also helps reflect their individuality.”

The idea to launch the store came from Jocelyn Corothers, said Raworth, adding that Corothers wanted to pay homage to her mother, considering “how her home was definitely a reflection of her individuality and uniqueness.” The store’s design will incorporate some items that belonged to Corothers’ mother.

“The pieces that we’re bringing in are going to hopefully give a wide array of options for people to find something that really fits their needs and personality,” said Raworth.

“It’ll definitely be a boutique experience that will offer an intimate and personal shopping experience.”

The business is targeting a grand opening on the weekend of November 1.

Raworth said the Corothers family has been in Yellowknife for more than 30 years and spent “a lot of time” building Home Hardware.

“I am really excited for them to be expanding their umbrella and bringing in Rime or Reason,” she said, “because I really do believe it is something Yellowknife is missing.”
