Yellowknife’s newest winter music festival has announced its second and final wave of performers.
The inaugural Still Dark Festival will run from January 31 to February 2 in the city’s downtown core.
According to a Monday press release, it will feature NWT artists Flora and the Fireweeds, Sunaïra, Maazes, Hughes, Taylor Saracuse and Some Other Dead People, Crook the Kid and PARTS.
Also performing at the festival will be Alberta-based musicians Shane Ghostkeeper – who released his debut country solo album last year – and hip-hop artist Mouraine, alongside Toronto-based Lauren Dillen whose solo music is described as “the sound of a sunset after a storm.”
The festival will feature a variety of musicians reaching across genres. For its first year, organizers say they have focused on folk, hip-hop, electronic and punk artists.
“Fans of music in the Northwest Territories will recognize some familiar locals making waves in the scene, while being introduced to some newer faces they may not have heard before,” the press release states.
The Still Dark Festival announced its first wave of performers last month including Wait//Less, Asko, Waivestate, Gnarwhal, Johnny Vu, the Co-op, Bryce Styan, Gianna Debogorski and Miranda Currie.
Tickets and more details are available on the festival’s website.
