Nine musical acts are set to rock Yellowknife’s Elks Lodge this June for a chance to play on the main stage of the city’s largest summer festival.
Folk on The Rocks has revealed the contenders for this year’s Main Stage Showdown, which aims to promote local talent and help raise funds for the 45th annual festival.
Performers will compete in sets of up to 10 minutes in a talent show-style showdown.
The winner will take home a $500 cash prize, artist passes for the festival weekend and a slot on the Lawson Lundell Main Stage during this year’s festival.

- Small Talk
- taylor saracuse and some other dead people
- Allister McCreadie
Folk on the Rocks said judges of the competition will include two festival board members, media partners and community members.
Previous winners include Refrijerater in 2024 and Prime Time in 2023.
This year’s Main Stage Showdown will take place on June 7 at The Elks Lodge with doors open at 6pm. Tickets can be found on Eventbrite or purchased at the door.
Folk on the Rocks also announced it is accepting proposals for art and animation projects at the 2025 festival until May 31.
“We want to collaborate with creative members of our community to bring unique memorable moments to the festival site,” the society stated in a press release.
