The territorial government will test its NWT Alert system at 9:55am on Wednesday. Expect a message on your phone, on cable networks and over the radio.
Tests of the system happen each year. This one comes as part of National Emergency Preparedness Week.
NWT Alert is the territory’s public alert system, which you can also find online.
“It is important to note it is possible that not all residents will receive the test alert on their wireless device,” the NWT government stated on Tuesday.
“This may occur for a variety of reasons, including device compatibility, connection to an LTE network, cell tower coverage, device software and settings.

“The public are encouraged to check their device compatibility on their wireless service provider’s website and ensure that their device has the latest software update installed.”
