The annual Bike Rodeo, a free community event that promotes bike safety for kids and youth, returns to Yellowknife on Saturday, June 7.

The 37th Annual Bike Rodeo will be held at the city’s multiplex from noon to 4pm that day.

Children from kindergarten to Grade 6 and their parents are invited to attend. There will be gift bags and a chance to win prizes.

The event is designed to teach bike safety and raise awareness of local bicycle bylaws. Attendees are encouraged to bring their bikes and helmets.

Activities will include:

  • face painting and balloon animals; and

“It’s about teaching our youth the rules of the road, building trust with local enforcement, and creating a safer, more connected community,” said Brennen Osburn, manager of the city’s municipal enforcement division, in a press release.
