Overturned vehicle causing ‘traffic hazard’ on NWT Highway 1

An overturned vehicle on NWT Highway 1 is causing a “traffic hazard” and delays in the vicinity of McNallie Creek Territorial Park.

Shortly after 3pm on Friday, the territory’s Department of Infrastructure reported the obstruction and advised travellers to expect delays.

Images from the scene show a gravel truck on its side and badly damaged, with gravel and debris scattered across the road.

One eyewitness reported the driver to be “hurt but OK.” They said traffic was able to slowly pass the scene. The exact nature of what took place was not clear.

The incident took place at a crossing of McNallie Creek a short distance from the territorial park day use area.
