Northwestel says customers in Yellowknife and Norman Wells experienced problems with their phone service on Wednesday.
According to the telecoms company, which is the North’s dominant provider, a “service disruption” affected landlines and cellular services in Norman Wells.
An issue also affected landlines in Yellowknife. It’s not clear if the problems in the two NWT communities were related.
Shortly after noon on Wednesday, the company said technicians were working to restore service.
By 2pm, Northwestel said the issue in Yellowknife had been resolved. The status of phone service in Norman Wells as of 3pm was unclear.
