How the final works

Our 15 heat winners will be split into three semi-finals of five for the final. The three winners of those semi-finals then go on to the very last round to decide the winner.

The champion can select either $1,000 in cash courtesy of Apex Pest Control or a Yellowknife-Vancouver round trip for two courtesy of Air North, with the second-placed contender receiving the remaining prize. Third place receives a $200 gift card courtesy of Sutherland’s Drugs.

Draw prizes for the audience include the Explorer Hotel overnight stay and brunch package, an Adam Dental Clinic electric toothbrush, a Black Knight $100 gift card and Cabin Radio apparel. A minimum donation of $20 on admission is required for entry into the prize draw.

Three $100 gift cards for Ricky’s All Day Grill will be awarded as lightning-round prizes throughout the evening. Each contestant receives a $20 Javaroma gift card for participating, regardless of how well they do.

All proceeds from the evening go to the NWT Literacy Council to support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which delivers monthly age-appropriate books to families across the territory.

Spelling begins at 7pm with an anticipated event end time of 9:30pm, at which point house band The Co-op takes over for the rest of the night.
