Four Edmonton Oilers alumni lined up alongside some of Yellowknife’s finest athletes in a Hockey NWT fundraiser on Saturday afternoon.

Team Blue, with former Oilers Georges Laraque and Charlie Huddy on board, ultimately triumphed over Team White, which lined up alongside Ben Scrivens and Andrew Ference.

Come for the Edmonton Oilers alumni, stay for the children trying to reach a puck. Andrew Ference, Ben Scrivens, Georges Laraque and Charlie Huddy spent Saturday playing alongside Yellowknifers to raise money for Hockey NWT. The game was a closely contested affair until the final few minutes, when Blue pulled away with quickfire back-to-back goals and an empty netter.

You can find the full rosters for each team on Hockey NWT’s Facebook page.

“Laughter, legends, and a whole lot of Oilers pride on the ice. Huge thanks to everyone who made this unforgettable moment possible,” Hockey NWT wrote online at the event’s conclusion.

Here are some of our favourite shots from the game.

From top: Ben Scrivens, Georges Laraque, Andrew Ference and Charlie Huddy made themselves at home in the Ed Jeske Arena.
They weren’t the only eyecatching individuals on the ice.
Scrivens brought some flair to proceedings, above, and had a little help from some young Yellowknifers in the warm-up.
The game was a balanced match-up, finishing the first period tied at 2-2.
Blue had eased into a narrow 4-3 lead by the end of the second period.
This shot initially triggered the goal horn, only for the officials to rule the puck had travelled along the line without crossing it.
A flurry of goals gave Blue a decisive third-period advantage in a game that ended 8-5.
