Residents of Norman Wells and Colville Lake are being warned to expect strong southeast winds gusting to 90 km/h starting on Wednesday evening and lasting into Thursday.
“Winds will weaken by the end of the day Thursday at Norman Wells and overnight Thursday at Colville Lake,” Environment Canada stated.
“Utility outages are possible. Significant disruptions to services and travel are likely.”
Tulita can expect slightly weaker winds, an advisory issued on Wednesday morning added.
Paulatuk was added to the warning later on Wednesday.
Strong southeast winds gusting to 90 km/h are expected in Paulatuk on Thursday, Environment Canada stated.
“Winds will strengthen early Thursday morning and continue through the day. Poor visibility due to blowing snow is also possible,” the advisory for the community noted. “Winds will weaken overnight Thursday.”
