The NWT government will send a test of its public alert system to your phone on Wednesday afternoon at 1:55pm MT. You may also catch the alert on radio or TV.
NWT Alert is the means by which the territory warns residents of critical incidents, natural disasters and the like.
It’s part of the nationwide Alert Ready system, all of which is being tested on Wednesday. (The Alberta system, for example, will issue a test of its own at the same time.)
“It is important to note that not all residents will receive the test alert on their wireless device,” the GNWT stated.
“This may occur for a variety of reasons, including device compatibility, connection to an LTE network, cell tower coverage, device software and settings.
“The public is encouraged to check their device compatibility on their wireless service provider’s website and ensure that their device has the latest software update installed.”
