Police say a series of operations in Yellowknife on Sunday resulted in 15 people being taken into custody and one being charged.

In a Tuesday news release, RCMP said officers had searched three units in a 53 Street apartment building. Various police units were involved, including dog and drone teams.

“Fifteen people were taken into custody during the operation. The searches resulted in the seizure of approximately $20,000 in cash, a loaded pistol with an extended magazine and a small quantity of crack cocaine,” police stated.

The person charged was named as 20-year-old Lucas Kasook of Edmonton, who is accused of offences related to trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime and illegal use of firearms.

“Kasook appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody,” police stated.
