Inuvik RCMP say a 15-year-old and 17-year-old from British Columbia have been charged after being found with a gun, drugs and cash.

In a Wednesday news release, police said the find occurred during a Monday wellbeing check on an individual “who had not been heard from in several days.”

“Following up on a tip that the person had been seen at an apartment on Bompas Street, officers were allowed into the apartment by the tenant, where a pistol was observed in plain view,” police stated.

The two teenagers were found in the apartment and subsequently arrested, RCMP added. Officers are said to have found about 10 grams of suspected crack cocaine, a loaded handgun and prohibited magazine, five cell phones and more than $13,000 in cash.

The 15-year-old and 17-year-old cannot be legally identified because of their age. They have been remanded into custody, RCMP said.
