Want to see how a Yellowknife family fares against the rest of the nation as Family Feud makes its Canadian debut? Tune in to CBC on December 30 at 7:30pm.

Aaron “Godson” Hernandez and his family will represent the NWT’s capital on that night’s show, Hernandez said in a Facebook post on Thursday. “Mark your calendars,” he urged friends in a post shared hundreds of times.

Family Feud Canada – entering its first season as CBC replicates the format of the long-running US edition – went through “thousands of applications and hundreds of in-person auditions across 16 cities” before selecting families to appear, producers said in a news release.

The Hernandez family recorded its episode in Toronto last month. Producers said Godson’s team includes his wife Melissa, brother Noel, sister Anneluzelia, and cousin Jessy-Ann.

The show’s opening episode airs at 8pm on December 16, two weeks before the Hernandez family’s appearance.

Whitehorse also has a family – the Dicksons – on the show, which is hosted by comedian Gerry Dee.

The Hernandez family was one of three at auditions held in Yellowknife in September. (Cabin Radio’s “work family” was another contender.)

“I thought our family would make good TV, even if we don’t win any money,” Godson said at the time.
