Wrigley residents are being told to boil their drinking water for at least a minute because the community’s water treatment system has had a “critical mechanical failure.”

In a Wednesday notice, the NWT’s chief environmental health officer said the water can’t be properly treated.

“The community, in collaboration with Maca, is working to resolve the mechanical failure as soon as possible,” the advisory stated.

More guidance is available on the GNWT’s website.

How the treatment system failed – and when it failed – were not specified in Wednesday’s advisory.

Last month, the NWT’s Department of Health and Social Services said Wrigley had not reported any quarterly water testing results to the territory’s environmental health unit since 2024.
